Conference Opportunity
As the six-month mark of Superstorm Sandy approaches, join the Northeast Region of the Roosevelt Institute | Campus Network at Yale on April 6, 2013, for a conference focused on the storm’s ongoing impact, lessons learned, and ideas for how to reduce community vulnerability in the future. The coordinators are looking for people to work with students on policy proposals, editors to refine pieces, and those interested in participating in the conference. Email us if you’re interested in getting involved!

Event Update: Save the Leftovers
Thank you to all who slogged through some truly gross weather to join us at our Save the Leftovers! launch brunch at Haley House Bakery & Cafe. We were delighted to see many of you, and to welcome Johan from Bootstrap Compost to talk about their innovative business (and distribute samples of sweet composted soil!).

A few take-aways if you couldn’t join us:

  • According to Bootstrap, composting reduces wastefulness, saves landfill space and nurtures the health of soil.
  • Check out a few highlight photos of the event! Take a close look for our special guest visitor as well…
  • Sad you weren’t there? No worries! Check out our event page to grab the Food Waste Tracker we distributed and see how you measure up to Pipeline. We’ll be tackling food waste issues all year long, so stay tuned for more opportunities!

Save the Leftovers Launch Brunch
6 spots left
We hope everyone is recovered from Nemo — power, back; cars and porches, shoveled out; access to the internet, restored. Please accept our apologies for the late event announcement (speaking about that power outage…) but we hope you can join us THIS SUNDAY, February 17, for our Save the Leftovers” Launch Brunch! There are only 6 spots left so RSVP now!

EVENT DETAILS
Come to the Haley House at 12:30PM on Sunday, February 17th, to:

  • Eat delicious brunch made by the Haley House Café
  • Learn why food waste is such a big deal (hint – it releases a green house gas 22 times worse than carbon dioxide)
  • Meet interesting people from around Boston!
  • The Haley House Café is on 12 Dade St, Roxbury – right next to the Silver Line and a short walk from the Orange Line.

Check your inboxes, our Facebook page, and our soon-to-be-launched official website for more facts and action items about our food waste initiative!

State of the Union
Friendly reminder that the State of the Union address is Tuesday, February 12 at 9pm EST. We are not hosting a Pipeline event this time but heartily encourage you to watch or listen along wherever you may be! Take special note of mentions of the Millennial generation or cultivating civic engagement. There may be a quiz.
