Applications Due November 12th

Pipeline’s partners at New Leaders Council are accepting applications for their 2014 Institute until November 12, 2013. If you are an emerging leader with strong progressive values, an entrepreneurial streak, and commitment to your community, you should check out the NLC Institute application.

Celebrating the Four Freedoms Awards with the Roosevelt Institute — On October 16, the Roosevelt Institute presented the 2013 Four Freedoms Awards to:

• poet, novelist, farmer, and activist Wendell Berry;
• economist and New York Times columnist Paul Krugman;
• NETWORK director Sister Simone Campbell;
• the Coalition of Immokalee Workers; and
• Ameena Matthews of Cure Violence.

Local elections next week — Good luck to all the candidates in next week’s municipal elections. Not sure if your town is having a vote? Check this list.
