Our law enforcement policy series explores this problem statement:
In light of the recent, tragic events in Ferguson, Missouri and coverage of issues related to militarization of domestic law enforcement around the country, we believe police forces should be more accountable and connected to the people they serve.
After meeting with expert speakers from ACLU Massachusetts in our first two events – Jessie Rossman, Staff Attorney, and Kade Crockford, Director of the Technology for Liberty Project – we look forward to adding a law enforcement perspective to our series. Somerville Police Lieutenant, Carmine Vivolo, will speak about the role of SWAT teams and tactics in local law enforcement.
Following the discussion with Lt. Vivolo, we will review what we learned in the series and determine if our network would like to take action on any issues surrounding police militarization and law enforcement accountability and transparency in 2015.
Hope to see you on Dec. 9th! RSVP today and email us with questions or comments.
Fondly, your Roosevelt Boston Core Team:
