The next event in our law enforcement policy series is on Thursday, November 13. RSVP TODAY!
The series explores our premise:
In light of the recent, tragic events in Ferguson, Missouri and coverage of issues related to militarization of domestic law enforcement around the country, we believe police forces should be more accountable and connected to the people they serve.
In our first event, we had an in-depth discussion with Jessie Rossman, ACLU Massachusetts Staff Attorney, about the ACLU’s ongoing legal actions at the federal and state level to encourage greater transparency and accountability for law enforcement agencies. Jessie also gave an overview of ACLU Massachusetts’s pending state lawsuit to gain access to SWAT team records to allow for public review of SWAT team procedures and actions in Massachusetts.
For the second event, we will hear from Kade Crockford, Director of the Technology for Liberty Project at the ACLU of Massachusetts. Kade will speak about police militarization, why this is a problem that needs to be addressed, and possible solutions.
